Cheese and Bacon scones
These delicious savoury scones are a definite Family favourite. They are best served with tomato soup on a picnic!
Tia's tip
Use scissors to cut up the bacon, it is much easier than a knife
Ingredients

225g self raising flour

55g butter

55g cheese grated

150ml milk

3 slices of uncooked bacon cut into small pieces

Salt and pepper to taste

Pinch of mustard powder (optional)
What do we need?

Mixing bowl
-
Weighing scales
-
Scissors
-
Fork
-
Measuring jug
-
Grater
-
Pastry brush

Baking tray

Heat oven to 200oC

Put flour, salt, pepper and mustard powder (if using) into a bowl

Cut butter into small pieces add to the flour mix, rub in the butter until mix looks like breadcrumbs

Stir in cheese, then add milk and mix to a soft dough

Roll out the dough into a rectangle that is about 1cm thick

Scatter the bacon on and roll up the dough to make a swiss roll shape. Use a little milk to stick the edge

Cut into 8 pieces and lay on baking tray. Brush with milk

Put in the oven for 20 – 25 mins until a nice golden brown.
