Guacamole

This popular Mexican dip is super yummy but best made fresh as you need it. You mash it up in a bowl with a fork but the bag method is fun with the children – just make sure your avocado is ripe.

Ingredients

  • 1 ripe avocado

  • 6 cherry tomatoes

  • 5 sprigs of coriander

  • 1/2 lime

  • 1/4tsp garlic paste

  • Pinch of Salt and Pepper

  • Smoked paprika (optional)

  • Chilli flakes (optional)

What do we need?

  • Chopping board

  • Knife

  • Scissors

  • Teaspoon

  • Cup

  • Strong large sandwich bag (you may want two just to be sure)

Tia's tip

You can put the cut lime in the microwave for 30 seconds. Let it cool and then squeeze you will get lots more juice.

What do we do?

  • If you are using two sandwich bags put one inside the other and open them up to act like a bowl

  • Cut the avocado in half and remove the big stone with a teaspoon

  • Go all the way round the avocado between the skin and the flesh with your spoon to remove it

  • Cut into small pieces and place in the bag

  • Cut the cherry tomatoes into quarters and add to the bag

  • Put the leaves from your coriander in the cup and cut with the scissors. Add that to the bag as well.

  • Cut the lime in half and squeeze the juice into the bag

  • Add the garlic paste to the bag as well.

  • Seal the bag and squeeze gently with your hands

  • Once it is mushy you can put it in a bowl. Use the salt/ pepper/ chilli flakes and paprika to season as you like it.

Eat and enjoy!
