Pizza Whirls
Pizza is a yummy tea time treat. These whirls are ideal for dinner or you can leave them to cool and take them out for a picnic.
Ingredients​

Pizza dough

250g Plain Flour, plus extra for kneading and rolling out

1 Tsp dried active Baking Yeast

1 pinch salt
-
200ml warm Water
-
1 Tbsp Olive Oil

Tomato sauce
-
4 Tbsp Tomato Puree
-
½ Tsp Oregano
-
¼ Tsp Salt
-
¼ Tsp Pepper
Toppings
-
It is entirely up to you. Traditionally pizzas have mozzarella cheese. We used a combination of Mozzarella and cheddar.

You can also add any cooked meat or vegetables

What do we need?

Weighing scales

Fork

Measuring jug

One large bowl

One small bowl

Cheese grater

Tablespoon

Teaspoon

Rolling pin

Chopping board

Baking tray
What do we do?
-
Put the yeast into the warm water and put to one side.

Measure the flour and salt into a bowl
-
Stir in the water and olive oil
-
Turn the dough onto a floured surface. Use a little more flour to knead the dough and make it smooth
-
Cover the dough and leave to rest for 15 minutes

Mix the ingredients for the tomato sauce in a small bowl

Divide the dough in half and roll out to make a rectangle

Spread the tomato sauce over the pizza base, layer on the mozzarella cheese and add any other toppings you would like
-
Take the longest edge and start rolling the pizza up until you have a big swiss roll shape

Cut the roll of pizza into 1½ inch or 2cm pieces

Put each piece onto the baking tray with the swirl facing upwards, push down slightly with your hand

To cook your pizza whirls

Preheat the oven to 200 C / Gas 6
-
Bake in the preheated oven until the pizza whirl is puffed and golden, which should take about 15 minutes
